JAMB Adjusts UTME Start Time in Jos Over Security Concerns

Due to growing security concerns in parts of Plateau State, the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced an adjustment to the start time of the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Jos.

The decision was made as a precautionary measure to ensure the safety of candidates, examination officials, and staff involved in the exercise. JAMB emphasized that the change specifically affects candidates scheduled to sit for the examination in areas considered vulnerable to early-morning security risks.

Under the revised arrangement, candidates are expected to begin their examinations later in the day, allowing for safer movement and better coordination of security personnel. The board noted that this adjustment aligns with ongoing efforts to minimize exposure to potential threats while maintaining the integrity and smooth conduct of the examination.

JAMB also urged candidates to strictly adhere to the new schedule and remain vigilant. Parents and guardians were advised to support candidates by ensuring they arrive at their designated centers on time, taking into account the updated reporting hours.

Security agencies have been mobilized to provide additional protection around examination centers, reinforcing confidence in the process. JAMB reiterated its commitment to safeguarding all participants and ensuring that no candidate is disadvantaged by the situation.

The board concluded by encouraging candidates to stay informed through official communication channels for any further updates regarding the examination timetable.
